The road to "THE ROCKY"...Saturday the 14th!

Officially known as the Cyto Charge Rocky Mountain Championships, or affectionately known as "The Rocky" to those in the Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure world! It's hard to believe that I am less than one week away from competing in "THE ROCKY" in the "Figure" category! This is a goal that I started dieting and training for over four months ago! As with anything that we set out to accomplish there were times when the road got too rocky...no pun intended...LOL! If it wasn't for the constant ENCOURAGEMENT from friends, family, clients, and loved ones I would not be ready to compete on stage this Saturday! Because of your support, kind words, and positive mojo, I was able to stay the course. You have no idea how much I appreciate all of you!

I hope to see you at the show!

Boot Camp.....YAY!

Hi there! I just wanted to let you know about a fitness boot camp that we developed starting this Sunday, September 27 though Sunday, October 25. The inspiration for this boot camp came from my client Paige who is determined to go Mexico in tip top shape! Just say NO to prom dresses on the beach...LOL! We have decided to name the camp "Barbie's Biggest Loser Boot Camp" (thank you Jillian), and I am so excited to be doing this, especially this time of year! I love exercising outdoors in the Autumn!

The boot camp will be held at two locations. The first location is at Red Rocks (http://www.redrocksonline.com/pages/questions/directions.html) on Sundays mornings at 10:30 a.m.; this time will not interfere with any of the Bronco games...who loves ya? The second location, during the week, will be held at Spring Hill Park which is located off of E. Quincy and S. Himalaya in Aurora (http://maps.google.com/). We will begin at five thirty in the morning (5:30 a.m.) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on Wednesday we will meet at five thirty in the evening (5:30 p.m.). Yes, that is four times per week!
  • Sunday - 10:30 a.m. @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Morrison
  • Tuesday & Thursday - 5:30 a.m. @ Spring Hill Park, Aurora
  • Wednesday - 5:30 p.m. @ Spring Hill Park, Aurora
I am asking that all who attend bring water, a medicine ball, a head lamp --it is dark that early! -- a towel and/or yoga mat. We are focusing on developing cardio-respiratory endurance and fat loss while toning muscles and strengthening our core using our body weight...and all this while having some fun!

If you have any questions give me a call on my cell #720-334-9825 OR email me at jwayla66@aol.com.

Drop ins are welcome! I hope to see you out there!

Nothing is constant except change..

Hey guys! I hope that you have all enjoyed your summer! As usual it seems to have gone by WAY too fast!! As the cool Autumn air rolls in I am reminded of how quickly things can change. The seasons as well as our life situations. We can never take anything for granted....not even the long days and warm weather! Each day that we wake up healthy and surrounded by friends and loved ones truly is a present...the present moment! I just want to acknowledge how grateful that I am for my life, health, and ALL of the amazing people that surround me on a daily basis....Family, friends, and clients! I feel honored and blessed to have you all in my life. You know who you are! I encourage you to take a moment to reflect and give thanks for what you are grateful for in your life...

Have a healthy and beautiful day!

Breakfast of champions!!!

Hey Guys! I hope that you are enjoying your summer and staying active! And staying active and healthy requires fueling that amazing machine....your body! with the right foods. I am often asked what I eat for breakfast so I thought I would share my favorite breakfast with you. I also love huevos rancheros but it's not a breakfast that will keep you lean and mean...Lol!! So here it is:

1/2 cup of oats-dry measure or 1/4 steel cut oats-dry measure
1 scoop of low carb protein powder..I like vanilla!
1/4 cup of diced apple or some mixed berries
4 drops of vanilla creme stevia
dash of cinnamon

Boil your oats in water with your stevia and cinnamon, I like to add the diced apple while they cook. When your oats are finished transfer into a bowl and mix in your scoop of protein powder and berries if you like. You can also add some ground flax for extra fiber and a good dose of your omega 3,6 and 9 fatty acids. YUM! I love this breakfast...it is a perfect blend of fast and slow digesting carbohydrates and protein to start your day off on the right foot!

Have a great day!

Finding Inspiration

Sometimes it's hard to stay inspired and motivated while we are on the path to reaching our goals. There are times when progress is slow and we find ourselves losing momentum...that's when you have to dig deep! I gather inspiration from other people who are pushing themselves and reaching for their own personal best -- famous athletes and the folks we know and see every day at the gym! Here is a shout out to some people who are working hard and doing great things...congrats to my sister Tara who is filming a medical yoga DVD series (in Florida) that will be available on line soon at planet hope tv.com. Tomorrow is also the Max Muscle Mile High Natural Bodybuilding, Figure, and Bikini Show! Yay! Good luck to Ryan and Raylene! I know you two personally and you look amazing! Your hard work is truly an inspiration....you look so good you almost make me want tilapia again.....NOT! LOL!!!!! See you at the show! Good luck!

Listen to your mother!!!!!!

Well...most of the time anyway! Good morning sports fans and fitness enthusiasts! One of the most common questions I am asked is how to stay full and satiated while trying to lose weight...that can be challenging when you are in a calorie deficit! That is when I hear my mothers voice in my head telling me to have an apple or raw vegetables...it's just as easy to grab for something healthy as it is to stick your hand in the bag of chips! Keeping raw and roasted vegetables on hand has been my biggest lifesaver (especially while dieting for a show!) I recommend two servings with every meal! Again the key here is keeping them on hand!
Mom I Love you! You were a true pioneer in the ways of healthy eating!

Welcome to my body building and figure blog

Words are very powerful. Here are some inspirational words that have helped me; I encourage you to find your own words that inspire and strengthen you:

God
Love
Courage
Faith
Health
Empowerment
Joy
Service

You have probably heard this before, but I truly believe in the mind, body, and spirit connection. In order to be a healthy, happy, mentally and physically fit person you need to sustain a connection between your mind, body, and spirit; and then work to balance all these areas. Not very long ago, there was a low point in my life when I was not fit and healthy. Now, I want to share my journey and my new found wisdom of how I came to reclaim my health and fitness.
My mission is to empower and inspire people to help them develop strength physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
To accomplish this mission I would like to share the knowledge I gained in my journey for self improvement. Let me both inspire and empower you to make positive changes in your body and your life. My philosophy encompasses focus and hard work, while maintaining balance and moderation. It is all about taking baby steps in the right direction on a daily basis. I can offer you support and tips that have helped me change my life and body. Remember, Rome was not built in a day! To be successful at anything you need to have a definite goal, a plan to implement change, maintain focus, and then work gently and steadily towards it. I would like to help you stay on track; don't get discouraged. If I can do it so can you!
